About Pearls
A pearl is a hard, glistening object produced within the soft tissue of a living shelled mollusk or another animal. Composed primarily of calcium carbonate (mainly aragonite or a mixture of aragonite and calcite) in minute crystalline form, pearls are deposited in concentric layers.
While the ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, many other shapes, known as baroque pearls, can also occur.
The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for centuries.
South Sea pearls, the rarest of all pearls, are generally larger and more valuable than other types. The majority of white South Sea pearls are cultured along the northwest coast of Australia.
We primarily source Freshwater, South Sea and Tahitian pearls for our jewelry.
